Meet - April 26, 2021 - Regional

Two Walnut Springs Hornets advanced to the Region 3 tennis tournament in Whitney on April 26. Senior Abraham Lares easily defeated his first round opponent from Nocona Prairie Valley 6-0 6-1.  Lares caught the number 1 seed in the second round and played extremely well against a young man from Dodd City. Lares fell 6-3 and 6-4 to bring an end to a great year for the graduating Hornet athlete. Lares had also played football  and basketball and had received All-District honors at the end of both seasons.

Freshman, Brenden Shuemake drew the number 3 seed in the tournament in the first round and fell to the Gustine athlete 6-0 6-1. Shuemake started the year planning to play as a boy's double but advanced as a singles player instead. He made great strides all year long and should be one of the more competitive players in District 20 as a sophomore. Shuemake is also an all-around athlete as he also competes in football and basketball as well.
